How do i activate the trainer on a game please ?

The trainer normally auto-activate the moment you start the game.

"The green start button goes grey" then just press one of the keys to activate the cheat.

Should i always be starting a game via Trainer 'Play' ? as i use mods in certain games so usually requires me to start game via a mod manager.

You do not actually need to press the play button on the trainer, it auto activates the trainer the moment you start the game with the game exe or steam or 
... doesn't matter how, the button i meant to press was like F1 - Godmode

Exactly! The PLAY button is mostly there for convenience and to allow our users to start their games through PLITCH, if they choose to - for some games it might be required to start the game via PLITCH due to anti-cheat measures but if that is the case, there'll be a popup explaining that.
