What isn't working for you?
Were you able to activate the prepare?
Did you follow the step in the cheatdescription and activated the prepare within the pause menu?

the prepare seems to do something *It makes a noise upon pressing it* after theat the key bindings for the level ups dont do anything at all

Did you activate the prepare within the pause menu?
Have you tried opening and closing the pause menu before and after activating the xp cheats?
