Add Thaler (money) doesn't work on Steam

I tried several versions and different activation keys or minimizing the game and clicking the trainer via mouse - but nothing happens.
The "Prepare for Cheat" option activates, but when clicking to add Thaler, there's no reaction.
Am I doing something wrong?

Hey smaug100,
when playing via Steam, did you also make sure to select the latest Steam version in the trainer?
Did you follow the steps in the cheatdescription of the money cheat? (You can open up the description by clicking on the "i" symbol right next to the cheat)

when playing via Steam, did you also make sure to select the latest Steam version in the trainer?
Did you follow the steps in the cheatdescription of the money cheat? (You can open up the description by clicking on the "i" symbol right next to the cheat)

Yes, I used the latest available (!) cheat version, which is 2.06 and the latest available Steam version. The game website says the latest version is 2.064, but that version only applies to the Viking Conquest DLC.
I'm trying to play the base game in the latest version 1.174. The cheat description note talks only about the DLC, so I ignored it.
