Can't get the cheats to even work

Everytime I open the app and have the game open and try to press the key I have bound to the activate first option, nothing happens.

The game had an update today. It's on the to-do list.

The trainer was up to date... but there's been another update. It's on the to-do list.

Were you able to activate the cheat but it didn't seem to have a function?
Did you activate the cheat in your inv where you can see your level?

The cheat did change the number on the top left but when i moved to a new island or restarted the game the number changed back to normal ( the number before i changed it in plitch ).
