Cant get this to work

Im using the steam version of the game, I hit play I select the 1.02 32 bit steam version and hit play. It opens of steam and starts running the game. I press 0 on the Num pad and I can hear that activate has been toggled but when I try to do any commands it just does associated commands for whatever the key binding is set to in game. Example; while activated when I go to press 5 instead of gaining xp it promts the character to activate their steal skill. Ive tried binding the commands to different keys but nothing seems to work can someone help?

After activating the "Prepare" code you have to click on the "cha" button. There you can increase your experience
