Are you playing via steam or gog?
You need to activate the prepare, gain some gold, activate the gold cheat, gain/pickup some gold again.

I don't know how to activate the prepare the option isn't there.

Ahh my bad. The prepare is currently hidden because the cheat has been causing some problems. We're working on a solution for it.
