Hm. Looking into this issue further, I found this:
- Lower the numbers: Entering massive values like 999,999 for items or currency can crash the game or corrupt your save file; stick to smaller increments like 1,000.
- Change activation steps: A single user suggested that for item/money mods, you should highlight the target item with WASD, Alt+Tab out to enter the value, click the checkmark, switch back to the game, immediately close the inventory menu, and then save and reload.
- Avoid mousing over slots: Do not mouse over or click other inventory slots immediately after activating an item modification, as users report this frequently triggers crashes.
- Use backup saves: Always keep a separate, clean backup save file before testing item or currency multipliers in case the current state corrupts.
