freeze timer doesn't really work

By "really" I mean it doesn't really let one play a battle nice and slow (Blitzkrieg I or II like). Yes, it freezes the timer on whatever phase the player is on, it also freezes command points accumulation, but there seems to be a hidden timer that will end the mission about 30 minutes no matter what happens. I literally used a stopwatch to confirm this, at least in my case. 
I wonder if there's a fix to this, or if I'm doing something wrong. Any feedback will be highly appreciated!
I would also like to mention that this "freeze timer" is what made me choose Plitch over WeMod, and I had a lot of fun with Regiments by using the freeze timer on that game to enjoy a slow-paced, relaxing European Escalation like gameplay. Cheers!

P.S. just to be clear: Plitch offered freeze time for regiments and I enjoyed that alot and will stick with my subscriptions. Not saying this to gaina ny favor or shit like that. Just being appreciative and optimistyc about Warno, when its campaing will come and they will use that bs about 20-30 min for a tactical battle. lol. Also, I know why that timer is there. It's just not my style. I'm just looking for WiC / European Escalation vibes with more modern wargame-like titles. Sorry about this being way too long... I guess I'm too lonely :))

dunno if this helps or not... I ran 2 more tests using the freeze timer and I believe I pinpointed the issue to a "sub-timer" that the game uses, under the main timer. It's the one that uses key-points domination to judge stuff like "major victory in xx minutes" or "draw in yy minutes". That particular timer can be less than the 40 minutes main one and it's annoying af. even though we freeze that sub-timer, the countdown still happens behind the scene... i hope that they don't screw up warno campaign in the same way... but I'm doubtful.
