Mass Effect 3, When lighting up godmode, it seems to GOD to all enemies. I have to turn it off in order to kill anything. What am I doing wrong?

Did you activate the prepare AFTER loading into your savegame?
Did you activate the godmode AFTER entering a fight?

Hi there. I activated it when I started the game. Anyway, when it is activated all of the enemies are just about unkillable. I have to turn it off just to be able to play the game. Weird. 
1. If I have to activate from a savegame then no I didn't. When going back to the menu it will still be on.
2. If I have to activate when in a fight then I would turn it on again if I don't see it highlighted.
