money and experience cheats not working

the experice and money cheats do not activate.  i made sure to activate cheats and made sure the values changes in game befor attempting to activate.  the cheats do not even give the sound of activating when the shotcut in typed.

Please follow the instructions carefully.
Either activate the "Prepare" in the main menu or save and load your game after activating the "Prepare.".
