It works for the side you start when activating the cheat duing a fight.
So if you start on the left side, activate the cheats, they will always work for the left side until you restart. (same for right side)
It's still on the to-do list.

all issues should be fixed in the last update, unfortunately the game doesnt have clear separation for player and cpu so you have to play as the left side player
