It feels like the infinite hp/bp is selective. It sometimes works for my whole party but always works for the MC. Is is supposed to work for everyone?

the cheat should only affect the main character and not your party members.
Can you try disabling the cheats before entering dialoge mode and talking to other players? This should fix the issue.

I'm not sure as the game is quiet old, but in some games it's pretty difficult to clearly separate from friendly ai and enemies in the code.
