The game won't let me start with unlimited stat points cheat

I've run the game multiple times and I'd like to try it again with a main character with 10 in each stats but the game won't let me start if I have stat points to distribute.

The cheat give us 50 stat points which is too much.

Is that supposed to happen? Is there a way to spend them all?

Please deactivate the cheat in the character creation screen. You can activate it in the character screen (ingame)

Feeling a little clueless here, I also activated stats in character creation and found the number to high to allow me to complete the creation.  I made character as per normal after reading this thread.  Now I try to get stat increase while playing, and have no visible indication that anything is different from original. I have activated cheat before opening character screen, while on character screen, on character screen then swapping screens, both to another character and to a different screen like inventory.  Values do not change, I see nowhere to change values, and stat % values all stay the same for various skills.   What am I missing?

20th time was the charm, don't know what was different, but all stats are now increased.  If I can figure exact order, I'll post about it.
