Sir/Ma'am,

I'm tracking this is an older game, but it's one of my absolute favorites. I've been a paid subscriber to Plitch for years. The cheats had worked perfectly until recently. Now, it seems there are issues with activation and de-activation. Initially, the activations and de-activations work fine, but then they refuse to de-active. After that, they start activating and de-activating randomly.

Is it possible that it's something small or simple that is off, and an adjustment can be made so that I can continue to play?

I know there are a ton of new games and that you all are very busy. I appreciate your hard work and dedication. If this is something that can, hopefully, be easily/quickly fixed, I would very much appreciate it.

Thank you so much!

Hey Recon Six,

thank you for reporting the issue. Have you noticed any pattern as to when the issues with enabling or disabling the cheats occur? Also, is it possible that you accidentally pressed one of the cheat hotkeys?

IronJulia,

Thank you for getting back to me! I appreciate it very much!

Things seem to work fine when the codes are first used and when they are first turned off when I end my turn. On the next turn, behavior becomes erratic. Sometimes the cheats activate, sometimes they don't. Sometimes, like the city population one, it will activate sometimes when you press the buttons for them once, but sometimes won't. Holding the keys down sometimes generates a "runaway" where the cheat does not de-activate or does not de-activate for awhile.

I have had some turns where, after ending my turn, cheats spontaneously activate (which helps the CPU players).

I made sure to run the game in the same conditions as I always have: administrator, etc. I have activated the cheats using the keyboard, and sometimes I have activated cheats by Alt + Tab and clicking through the Plitch menu when I started to see glitching. Lastly, I made sure that all codes required a two-key hotkey (ex. LCtrl + F1, LAlt + F2, etc.) so that the chances of accidental activation were minimized.

The behavior is very odd in that it seems to start ok, and then it degrades to where it becomes erratic and unpredictable. I have exited the game, exited Plitch, restarted my computer, and run the game/Plitch a few times with no other applications running to see if it was something I was doing. None of those had any effect.

The game is technically playable...but the erratic/random behavior is new and in stark contrast to how smoothly everything has worked before. Since the game is so old, I wouldn't have expected to have a sudden loss in functionality, which is why I started with the premise that I was doing something wrong before I bothered anyone here.

I'm sorry that I don't have much more that's communicable. I could potentially try to record video and send that to someone?

Again, thank you so much for looking into this. I really appreciate your time and effort.

Thank you for your response. Which cheats did you use exactly where the issue with random activation or deactivation occurs? Also, it is normal for a cheat to remain visibly active in the trainer for a short while if the hotkey is held down for an extended period. We also do not recommend holding down hotkeys for too long, instead, please activate them one at a time.

Feel free to send us a video of the issue. It's best to upload it to a third-party site, such as Google Drive.
