I’m completely new to this and I’m not sure how to get the cheats to work. I’ve seen videos that you are using the plitch screen while playing the game but I’m not sure how to do that. I have to completely exit the game to get to plitch

You can just alt tab out of the game.
If you don't have a second monitor you can either use the mobile app to activate the cheats
