Did you make sure to select the steam version in the trainer?
Were you able to activate the prepare or is it greyed out?

I have the same issue. When you select the Steam version it states that your game can not be found and it only works on the Steam Version. The prepare to activate is greyed out

Did you make sure to select the steam version in the trainer BEFORE pressing the play button?

I did indeed. Both advise they can not find the Steam Install
