Any way to change the .exe location to beamdog folder for BG EE?

I purchased Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition through Beamdog directly, but the trainer for this game seems to only be directed at the steam location. Is there any way to change the trainer to find the .exe in the Beamdog folder instead? I was able to do this on another trainer application and it works, but Plitch has more to offer for this game so I wanted to use it instead. I tried adding BG EE to my steam library as a non steam game but that didn't work. When I hit play it just opens steam to the store page to buy BG EE

Can you launch the game manually instead of pressing the play button?
The button has nothing to do with the cheats.
