I can't get these to work at all. I clicked play through the app and it still won't work

All the play button does is launching the game.
You need to load into your savegame and activate the cheat called "prepare"

Hey willyboydu27,
are you playing via Steam or Msstore and did you make sure to select the correct version (Steam/Msstore) in the trainer?
What isn't working for you?
Were you able to activate the prepare?
