Set Brain Points (BP) Not working

Has anyone figured out how to get the BP Point cheat to work? I've tried everything from trying it out of menu, with character menu open, with BP menu open, etc. 

No attempts will increase the BP amount. 

All other codes (e.g. Unlimited psychokinesis or +9999 money) work just fine.

Did you spend some BP before and after activating the cheat?
